The 25th edition of the International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA 2024), took place from September 2 to 6 in Lisbon. Johann presented part of his doctoral research and was selected as a finalist of the Young Scientist Award competition.
The 2024 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and ITNC-USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting (APS-URSI 2024) was held this summer in Florence, Italy. On this occasion, all our fellows participated as speakers, presenting their latest research contributions to an international audience and engaging with experts from across the fields of antennas, propagation, and radio science.
On 20 June 2024, our fellows delivered a presentation to French high school students visiting Thales, explaining the industrial applications of their research and encouraging the next generation to explore careers in science and technology.
In June 2024, Leonardo and Johann participated in the MIT Innovation Leadership Bootcamp, held in Zagreb, Croatia. During this intensive program, running from June 8 to 14, they developed their skills in transforming scientific ideas into viable business opportunities, gaining valuable insights into entrepreneurship, leadership, and innovation management.
On 4 April 2024, our fellows showcased their research at the Journées de Palaiseau (JPal), an innovation forum hosted at Thales Research & Technology, highlighting the industrial relevance of their work and discovering other ongoing projects.
The 18th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2024) took place this year in Glasgow fron March 17 to 22. On this occasion, Margaux and Leonardo presented part of their research work, sharing their latest results with the international scientific community and engaging with experts from academia and industry.
On March 14, Paolo and some other Ph.D. colleagues participated in the "Festeggiando il Pi Greco Day". The stand organized included demonstrations and activities for schools to present some relevant applications of electromagnetic simulations.
Aware of the under-representation of women in science, Margaux took part in the 2024 edition of Femmes & Ingénieures, Réussir en Sciences et Technologies (F.I.R.S.T.) on February 7. During this event, she shared her research and academic journey to the students of the high school Alexandre Dumas in Saint Cloud, aiming to inspire high school students—particularly young women—to pursue careers in science and technology.
The European Course of Antennas (ESoA) course, organized by Prof. Francesco Andriulli as part of the COMPETE project, will be held at the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) in Abu Dhabi from February 26 to March 1, 2024. Throughout the program, participants will explore design and application techniques, numerical methods, and modern antenna optimization. The course will also include a visit to the TII DERC Labs, where hands-on demonstrations will be conducted.
The Mid-Project Open Workshop, held from September 25 to 27 in Vélizy, France, served as a key milestone for our PhD fellows to present their research progress. The event facilitated a dynamic exchange of ideas between academia and industry, attracting participants from leading institutions such as CEA List, IMACS, and Thales. Each ESR presented their work, showcasing advancements in computational electromagnetics and fostering valuable discussions on the practical applications of their research.
From August 19 to 26, Johann, Paolo, and Pierrick traveled to Sapporo, Japan, to present their research at the prestigious URSI General Assembly and Scientific Symposium (URSI GASS 2023). During the event, Johann’s work was distinguished by his selection as a finalist in the Student Paper Competition, highlighting the high quality of the research carried out by our fellows.
From July 23 to 28, Margaux and Pierrick traveled to Portland to present their research at the IEEE AP-S/URSI Symposium. This major international event provided them with the opportunity to share their latest findings with the global electromagnetics community and engage in valuable scientific exchanges.
On 3 June 2023, our fellows will host a dedicated stand during the Thales Open Day, presenting their research alongside Thales’ industrial projects.
Return of our fellows from their unique experience at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. They are coming back full of new ideas and amazing encounters
'From research innovation to Business'. Margaux, Paolo, and Pierrick will join the MIT Bootcamp Venture Advancement Program 2023 in Boston from May, 8 to May, 12. One week to become futures entrepreneurs!
From Sept. 30th to Oct. 1st, our team will take part in the Night of Sciences to present the use of Computational Electromagnetics. This European event aims to bring science in a didactic and funny way to European citizens.
An European Course of Antennas (ESoA) course will be hosted in Turin in September 2022, and organised by the coordinators of our project Prof. Andriulli and Prof. Vecchi. A full program of Computational Electromagnetics.
